Villa Paola and Fondazione Cesare Berlingeri ETS renew their collaboration with a new chapter of Onda Creativa, the project created to support and enhance contemporary artistic research and to foster new opportunities for dialogue between art and territory.
After a first edition dedicated to young artists connected to Calabria, Onda Creativa changes form and opens up to a more intimate dimension, dedicated to the exploration of a single artistic path.
This is how The Portrait of the Invisible takes shape, a photography project by Azzurra Primavera, curated by Cristina Berlingeri, born from an artistic residency carried out in August 2026 between two places: Villa Paola, the sixteenth-century former convent overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, and Cesare Berlingeri’s studio in Taurianova.
Through an exercise in attention and observation, the artist collected details, traces and correspondences between the two spaces: a leaf, a reflection, a working tool, a painted surface. From this research come pairs of images that bring together fragments of the villa and the studio, inviting the eye to seek unexpected connections.
The project does not seek a descriptive representation of places, but rather what remains at the edges of the gaze: lights, silent presences, fragments and details capable of revealing a more intimate and hidden identity.
The exhibition The Portrait of the Invisible opens on 9 October at 5:00 p.m. in the cloister of Villa Paola and will be open from 10 to 31 October 2026, by reservation, also to visitors not staying at the hotel.
