Zungri Caves

Do not miss the opportunity to visit the Zungri Caves during your holiday in Tropea, a unique rock settlement in Calabria, a magical place where you will immerse yourself in another civilisation, made of caves dug in the sandstone and natural springs. The ancient settlement set in stone is located about 20 km from Tropea and overlooks a deep valley overlooking the Costa degli Dei, one of the most beautiful seas of Calabria. The village seems to date back to somewhere between the sixth and eighth centuries when the Basilian monks fled from the East to escape persecution and took refuge in the territory of Mount Poro.
